Oak Meadow

Oak Meadow school completed in August 2012, was 1 of the first 3 Passivhaus primary schools to be completed in the UK (The first 3 were all certified on the same day so as not to upset anyone!!).
In addition to a challenging budget and resultant value engineering both prior and during the construction phase, there was extensive design and cost negotiation with the main contractor (Thomas Vale Construction) and key sub-contractor to ensure a full understanding of the principles and requirements of Passivhaus  and to ensure that costs reflected the simplicity but stringent quality construction techniques. Significant work alongside the Archietct (Architype from Hereford) was required to achieve the success of this project.
The project was completed to programme and to budget which was increased during the works to incorporate numerous additional client requirements imposed during the construction period.
The project value was approx. £5.5m. Smith Thomas Consult provided full pre and post contract quantity surveying service on this project.
