The Lantern Community

The Lantern Community is part of the International Sheilling Organisation which is committed to the welfare of people with learning difficulties. As part of their programme of care ‘companions’ are encouraged to develop the skills of making through art and craft.

The project at the Lantern Community site in Ringwood provided additional workshop spaces, expanding the facility to provide separate pottery and weavery workshops for use by the “companions”

The resultant project which was constructed to very high sustainable and building performance standards has received a 2015 RIBA Regional Award.
